The connection between character identity and audience relatability in literature
April 3, 2021
For my senior project, I decided to make a symposium with a focus on English. As an avid reader myself, I was curious about how identity comes into play when people read books. I didn’t get a chance to analyze data during my literature review, so I thought it would be interesting to create a survey and send it to a wide range of people to hear their thoughts. After creating the survey, I made a presentation that compiled both my research and my findings from the survey data together, along with my takeaways. This project is relevant to both me and others, since reading is a coping mechanism for many people, and my findings clear a lot of misconceptions people may have about what makes a “good” character.
