Slow Walkers Be Gone!

We all desire peace however how are we supposed to live in peace when we have a big issue. Slow walkers are one of the biggest issues. You live in New York, one of the biggest cities with a population around 8 billion people. Being a city that attracts tourists we have to deal with others being unfamiliar and walking slowly. The city is constantly moving, people are always on the move. In this city time is money. Money is what buys you what you desire. No one should underestimate the value of time. Time is being wasted with these people who simply cannot walk faster. Why waste 5 minutes trying to get through a crowd of people? You have two legs, just walk or simply train your legs to move faster. Invest in some physical activity I guess.

As someone who grew up in New York I consider walking my number one source of transportation. It irks my soul to see others walk as they have nowhere to be. I try to avoid the subways because they are overpacked and constantly messed up. Being 5’2 and trying to ride the subway just result in me being pushed constantly or not being able to reach the top pole. I would say I feel anxious riding the subway or being in a very populated area. I think some people may agree with me on that. I avoid 34 street (Herald Square), 42nd street (Times Square) and Soho just because it is crowded with people. There is someone in every corner. I invest in city bikes which is a very cheap and efficient way for transportation. Many other people skate, use skooters and some roller skates. My point is, there are many other sources of fast and easy ways of transportations.

I oppose this solution that will make everyone happy. The government will offer those who are classified as a slow walker and give them their choice of vehicle. We pay taxes every year as a whole. This money can be used to help provide these vehicles to everyone. These all power electrically which means no work has to be done by the person. It is convenient, not only are you saving money for not paying for transportation but we are getting rid of those slow walkers. City bikes are great but imagine not paying a single penny for transportation. Investing in this can help limit the amount of greenhouse gasses we as a city produce. How can you say no to something that is beneficial to both the people and the environment? We can also limit the amount of traffic the city has. We already have bike lanes installed where many people can ride, we could make them bigger since more people would use them. Riverside and Central Park is a great place where people can ride as well since many people already bike there. Overall we know that we can’t just remove electricity since it’s everywhere.

We are constantly evolving as a society. It is time to take things a little slower and view what people may consider as a “smaller problem.” I leave this saying that I think we should do what’s best for everyone. I simply wanted to help limit the overcrowded sidewalks, traffic, and promote a better environment. Realistically, this is a reach for New York. People prefer to drive and people are, well, stubborn. Getting them to switch to using an electric vehicle would be difficult. People don’t like to change from things they’ve grown accustomed to. Maybe sometime in the future we can input this.
