Stranger Things review

We all have heard of the famous streaming website, Netflix. It’s basically like the digital version of BlockBuster. Founded in 1997, it originally was a company that rented DVD’s by mail to their subscribers.

In 2007, they started their online subscription service and completely blew out its competition. As of 2016, Netflix has nearly 2,000 TV shows and over 6,000 movies.

About 44 million Americans and 26 million non-Americans use Netflix. However, it is estimated that by 2020, over 100 million people outside of the US will start using Netflix (via Statista.com).

Netflix is also the host of one of the most popular shows of 2016: Stranger Things, and it is usually compared to other top shows like Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and DareDevil.

During the first week’s appearance of Stranger Things on Netflix, Techtime announced that the show gained a total of 44 million views.

A sophomore at the NYC iSchool, Danny Goyette, describes Stranger Things as “a throwback to the 80’s with all the suspense from a classic 20th century sci-fi movie.”

“I also liked that everything was planned out, and how each part of the show would play with your emotions, I am really looking forward to season 2.”

Sophomore, Andrew Rivera, loves to watch Stranger Things during his free time. Unlike cable TV, Andrew likes that Netflix now incorporates a download feature. “With the new Netflix download feature, I like to download episodes of Stranger Things and watch it while I’m on the subway.”

With the first season of Stranger Things ending in August, Lucas Rivera, a sophomore at the NYC iSchool said, “I absolutely loved season 1 and watched it all in one day. I can’t wait for season 2.”

As of January 2017, sources say that you can expect season 2 of Stranger Things to air on July 2017.
