If you guys have heard of MTV’s “Ridiculousness” and want to know why it’s the funniest show on TV, well today I’ll explain why!
MTV’s “Ridiculousness” is the funniest show on MTV because on the show there are too many videos on the internet people have seen on other social media pages that they might find funny and it pops up on the show so people can see the videos on Live TV.
The 2nd reason why is that the host, Rob Dyrdek, is so funny and makes the funniest commentary, while the videos that people have seen on other social media pages are playing full screen on the show to make it look like the people in those videos are saying those lines that Rob Dyrdek is saying. He also comes up with the funniest names for each category related to those videos people have seen on other social media pages.
Some videos are of people getting hurt, and some videos are cute and funny on the show.
According to Wikipedia:
“Ridiculousness is an American comedy clip show that began airing on August 29, 2011, on MTV. It is hosted by Rob Dyrdek and co-hosted by Sterling “Steelo” Brim, Chanel West Coast (formerly) and Lauren Wood. Ridiculousness strictly showcases various viral videos from the Internet, usually involving failed do-it-yourself attempts at stunts, to which Dyrdek and his panelists add mockery and reaction. The producers of the series and MTV refuse any submitted videos for the show for the safety of their viewers (as mentioned in disclaimers at the beginning and end of each episode), instead licensing already-existing content.
On September 11, 2012, Ridiculousness was renewed for a 20-episode third season. It premiered on February 14, 2013, and included a crossover with Jersey Shore when Pauly D guest-starred. The season took a hiatus from April 2013 to July 18, 2013. Season 3 averaged a 1.6 P12-34 rating and is the No.1 original cable series in its time slot with P12-34.
The series is produced by Superjacket Productions, Rob Dyrdek’s production company, under a multi-year deal with MTV.
The theme song, a cover of Devo‘s “Uncontrollable Urge“, was done along with Devo member Mark Mothersbaugh, with Dyrdek providing the “yeah”s. Music supervisor Ben Hochstein said that “Kids think the song is original to our show and have never heard of Devo, but hopefully, their parents appreciate the connection.
Due to the series being consistently marathoned on MTV and MTV2, beginning in October 2015, some episodes of Ridiculousness were repackaged with lower-cost production music. The new music was under blanket licenses overlaying the former tracks. The former tracks would have required MTV to pay music licensing fees to artists.
In 2023, after co-hosting 30 seasons of the series, Chanel West Coast left the show to pursue her solo career. The West Coast Hustle, a reality TV series about the former co-host, premiered on MTV on July 18, 2024. After Chanel West Coast’s departure, several guest co-hosts were tried out, and eventually Lauren “Lolo” Wood became part of the cast.””

1: Why is MTV’s Ridiculousness your favorite show?
I like this show cuz it shows a lot of funny fails and I think it’s a good way to have comedy without anyone doing it like up the front cuz he’s having an accident and not like it’s not they’re doing it on purpose.
2: Have you ever watched it on MTV or MTV2?
I’ve watched it on MTV2.
3: What is your favorite video from the show that they play in each category?
I forgot exactly which category it was but it was just one where this guy was swinging and he fell off the swing and he hit his balls on like a pole.
4: Why is Rob Dyrdek the funniest commentator on the show?
He’s really good at narrating the stuff that happens and just always like really funny when it comes to what happens and his reaction is just awesome.
5: Do you hear Rob Dyrdek saying funny commentary while the videos are full screen on the show?
Yes sometimes.
6: While the videos are full screen on the show and when Rob Dyrdek makes some funny commentary does it look like those people in those videos are saying those lines that Rob Dyrdek says in different episodes?
I feel like it does. I was thinking that oh this is probably like saying in real life after they check the camera like oh that got hurt and stuff like that.
7: What are your favorite episodes?
I think my favorite episodes don’t really remember much of them. I’ve always liked when they had a special guest like a celebrity like a singer or a rapper or like an early famous actor. I’ve always loved those.
