Trump care
April 4, 2017
On Friday, March 24th, Congress voted for the repealment of Obamacare. The vote didn’t pass and, Obamacare is still valid. President Trump was really hoping for the vote to pass since that’s what he was really focused on.
A good portion of President Trump’s election consisted of the repealment of Obamacare since that’s was what most Republicans wanted. It didn’t go as planned for the GOP, so they’re coming up with another plan.
Many people don’t agree with the repealment of Obamacare because of the fact that millions of people will lose coverage.
According to Ms. Figueroa, “No, Obamacare already provides health coverage to a good amount of people. The repealment would cause for a significant percentage of the U.S. population to be left once again without health insurance. This would defeat the purpose of making an improved healthcare alternative since many people would lose their insurance.”
Many people rely on Obamacare since it provides coverage for all. Republicans believe that it costs a lot of money to maintain.
According to 9th grader, Joseph Kallan, “I don’t think it should because so many people have Obamacare, and if those people were to be replaced, with a new care act that didn’t suit their needs, then it would be stressful for everybody’s problems or accidents.”
Many people have different needs when it comes to healthcare, so Obamacare is usually interpreted as a good solution for the people because it covers a wide variety of people.
According to 9th grader, Luca Nicosia, “I believe it helped as it supported everyone whereas Trump care only really supports the rich.”
A large sum of Americans believe that Obamacare helped supported everyone as well. Since Obamacare did well for people, Trump Care isn’t projected to be well or to even compete with Obamacare.
According to 9th grader Luca Nicosia, “I believe they look worst as they are replacing one health care with a worst health care. As Trump doesn’t support old people, poor people nor women (with birth control pills and abortion surgery). It would also take thousands of people out of health care.”
Many others hold this belief as well, even Republicans. The people interviewed didn’t state their political stance so it cannot be concluded whose side is right or wrong.
According to Ms Figueroa, “The current administration looks disorganized, inexperienced, and lacking professionalism. In addition to that, there appears to be a lack of collaboration within their own government party which also demonstrates the lack of stability and unity present.”
Many believe that President Trump and his administration look weak now since all their efforts were for nothing.
9th grader Joseph Kallan said, “They look weak because it shows they lack confidence and loyalty in the people of America.”
The GOP claims that the vote would be a step in the right direction and that Obamacare is imploding. As a result, it would really make America worse.
Many are relieved that the Affordable Care Act is still valid and that there isn’t a new healthcare system. The GOP is coming back with another solution so people better be prepared as to what’s supposed to happen in the future.
