Not many know what goes on in the iSchool’s Theater Club on Thursday afternoons. I got a first look on their progress to their “Heathers: The Musical” production planned to come out this spring.

Theater Club takes place in 401.
And was founded in springtime last year.
On this particular Thursday, November 2nd, the club’s advisor and founder, Ms. Coughlin, showed the students of varying grades an amateur version of the musical. In the back left, you can see the two co-presidents, Sophia Lola and Sherlyn Ramirez, conversing.
The students have been doing minor research on the musical. Not many knew of it before Ms. Coughlin introduced it to the class.
Musical numbers like “Dead Girl Walking” had the class both singing along and looking around the room in shock at the somewhat avant garde and profane language used.
Which prompted Ms. Coughlin to shout to the class, “We’ll be doing a far more appropriate version of this!”
Although I was only there for about half of the club’s hour, I could see the engagement and excitement of the students.
The students’ eyes were glued to the screen in interest.
“I’m glad we’re doing a more modern and funny production,” iSchool junior and Club’s student co-president, Sherlyn Ramirez, stated.
The jam-packed room goes to show the popularity of the club. Everyone should definitely stop by if theater is something that interests you.
And everyone should definitely see the club’s version of “Heathers: The Musical” this spring!
