Transportation: How it makes a big difference in New York City

Sofia Coulibaly, Reporter

Transportation is a big deal in New York City. Many people rely on the buses, taxis, trains to get from place to place, while others rely on cars. However, these forms of transportation may become less reliable due to traffic, accidents, or road/rail problems. These problems cause people to be late to school and work, and can lead to more serious consequences. But transportation is also a positive thing because it makes it easier for everyone to travel around the city.

Many cars are parked on the side of the street. Today is a good day for finding a parking space compared to others.
A taxi is in the process of driving someone to their desired location.
A school bus carries students and is going to drop them all off at their school. There appears to be lots of cars behind it, which might result in traffic.
A car and a truck are waiting for the traffic light to change, signaling that they can drive. On the other side of the street, an m5 bus is doing the same thing.
The train is filled up with people who want to go somewhere, whether it be school, work, to an appointment or something completely different. These people rely on the train to move quickly and would most likely have a hard time if there were no trains in New York City.
In the tracks, you can find shattered glass and many other types of litter that become safety hazards. This litter can lead to train delays or track fires and make everyone’s commute more difficult.
Traffic can be dangerous to people, since some drivers and pedestrians don’t stop when they’re supposed to.
The cars of people who have arrived at their destination are parked. Drivers pass by in a busy neighborhood, hoping to reach their own destinations.
Although getting to where you want to go might be a lot of hard work, it pays off in the end and gets you used to the city’s large transportation system.
