Blade Runner 2049 review
November 10, 2017
Blade Runner 2049 is the newest version of the Blade Runner movies. Starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2049 is about a blade runner who reports for the Los Angeles police department.
Ryan Gosling, starring as Officer K, finds out a big discovery in his everyday job of killing replicants that leads him into a big mission. Meeting Harrison Ford who plays a former blade runner that was missing for 30 years, they both get involved in the mission.
The cool thing about the makers bringing back Harrison Ford is he played the main blade runner in 1982, and about 30 years later he gets found in the new movie.
A blade runner is a police officer charged with killing replacements. Replicants are basically robots. The way a blade runner does this is by checking the replicants’ eyes to see his or her muscle movements.
The movie is directed very well thanks to Denis Villeneuve. With beautiful rainy city shots with holographic messages, to deserted deserts with giant statues of women, the director really captured what I would think the future would look like. These are only two of the many futuristic scenes that make this movie different.
Danny Ottaviano, a freshman at the iSchool, says, “ Blade Runner 2049 was so cool! I loved the different places they shot the movie. I would wanna know where they did it.”
The original Blade Runner that was made in 1982 and directed by Ridley Scott was one of the best movies during the time.
Blade runner 2049 made those old timers feel like they were watching the old one with newer and cooler features.
If you’re looking for a overall rating for the movie, Rotten Tomatoes is giving it a 81% Although I think this is still a low score for such a well formated movie, it still shows how well the movie is doing.
Olive Raymond, another freshman, says, “The movie had really nice cinematography and there were a couple of scenes that really connected the old Blade Runner to the new one.”
All in all, if you’re looking for a movie to watch, Blade Runner 2049 is the one. To be honest you don’t have to watch the original, you wouldn’t see the connections because it’s a great movie by itself.
