2017 TV shows: That’s a wrap
In 2017, there were many successful TV shows including “Stranger Things,” “Shameless,” “Game of Thrones,” and many others. Many people have different preferences of what shows they like to watch.
TV is a huge part of today’s lifestyle, and some iconic awards are given to those that have performed the best. The “Black Mirror” episode “San Junipero” won an Emmy for best TV movie. Millie Bobby Brown from “Stranger Things” won the MTV Movie & TV Awards for Best Actor in a Show. However, people might disagree. In fact, most people have very different interests regarding TV shows.
Algebra teacher Ms. LaPlante says, “I also watch some guilty pleasures – “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder.” I like those shows but they’re very dramatic.” There are a lot of shows out there that may not make too much sense, but that are definitely entertaining. Ms. LaPlante says about her favorite genre of TV, “I like drama and comedy.”
Freshman at the iSchool Jennifer Morales says, “I just finished ‘Stranger Things’ and I’ve watched some Spanish soap operas.” There are so many shows out there, and telenovelas are a big catch.Telenovelas are soap operas that are based in Latin America. Many people also watch Korean dramas.
Freshman Abida Haque says that “Shameless” is her favorite TV show. When asked how often she watches tv, she says, “In a day, I probably watch an hour or two. I fit in an episode on the train and one before I go to sleep.” TV is a distraction from reality, and can bring you into a really interesting story. In today’s age, it’s easier than ever to watch. You can watch anytime, anywhere.
Personally, my favorite TV show was either “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Lost.” “Grey’s Anatomy” is a drama about surgeons that live in Seattle. It’s currently on its 14th season, and it has a lot of interesting situations and themes. “Lost” is an American drama that lasted 6 seasons that ended in 2010 about a plane that crashes on a mysterious island and focuses on the characters experiences there. What makes this show so interesting is the flashbacks in every episode that allows us to see what characters lives were like before the crash. Each character is different and their interactions on the island add a lot to the show.
There are new shows because created all the time. What’s to come of 2018?
