For the first time since the NYC iSchool opened there is a soccer team competing against other schools!  The team will consist of 16 players and will play against other schools at McCarren Park in Brooklyn every Thursday.

Mr. Crea, the coach, takes the team to Lorimer Street to play against other schools.  Most weeks the games begin at 5, while on a certain days the team leaves early to play at 4.

iSchool is excited to compete in this league as kids have had hopes of to get a soccer team together.  Although the soccer games are played in tiny fields and only consist of eight players on each team, the iSchool is excited to finally have a soccer squad.  Senior Julian Bueno said, “I don’t care what the rules are, as long as I get to represent my school playing soccer, I’m having fun.”

Even if the iSchool is new to the soccer league, the team is still very talented.  The team has a total of four victories and only a small number of two losses.  Their most recent game was won with glory by an astonishing score of 6-1.  “Our soccer team learns from our loses, and then we make sure that next week we win,” says Alex Juma.

Julian Bueno and Alex Juma (both seniors), the captains of the team, are leading the iSchool team to several winnings. Alex controls the defense and Julian leads the offense.  Both captains are really impressive players. They are even looking into playing college soccer!

However, Alex and Julian are not the only great players on the team. In fact, the iSchool has plenty of talented players! This includes junior, Antonio Piltcher, who is studying abroad in America this year from Brazil. As well as  sophomore, Andre Eisenberg, who currently is in the lead for most goals.  “The greatest feeling is when I score a goal for my school,” says Andre Eisenberg.

The iSchool soccer team has allowed students to make new friends, and it is becoming a successful team. Let’s hope they will win this year’s soccer tournament!
