If you are a teen living in NYC who is searching for a free activity for summer, you can check out Far Rockaway Beach! Students can ride the Q53 to Rockaway Beach Blvd & Beach 108th St and then take a short walk to the beach. From the bus stop to the beach is a really short walk. Also, for all teens, all they need to do is have their OMNY card that was provided by their school to pay for the bus fare. It may be a long commute, so make sure to come early because swimming closes at 6.

When walking towards the beach, there are lots of paintings of ducks and paintings of people surfing and playing in the waves at the beach. There are lots of really interesting and colorful paintings around the area of the beach, making the outside of the beach really interesting to look at before you even get on the sand.

Before you head to the beach, there are a few rules to follow to have a fun time and to stay safe at the beach. They are posted on a wall at the entrance to the beach and are very important. Make sure to read them.

I went to the Far Rockaway Beach with my friends, and we had an awesome time. Running around on the sand like I was a kid again. In the end, we were all tired, but the experience we had was definitely worth it. We even made sure to cover every inch of my body except my face in sand. No, literally. It was definitely one of the funniest moments of the day.

I was able to see for miles and miles of blue water. The sun was shining and splashing off of the water, making it look so warm and shiny. It was a beautiful site to see, and the cool ocean air felt so good on such a hot summer day. I was able to go to the beach with my friends for the first time and I felt so free. We were not worrying about school, or homework, or anything else. We could just relax and have fun and enjoy each other’s company. It felt like stress took a vacation from my body.

The waves were so big and so cool. Some of the waves hit the beach really hard and splashed a lot of water on the shore. Me and my friends jumped over some of the waves and tried to not get washed down. The best part was that when we returned from the cold water the feeling of the warm sun on my back was really relaxing.
In addition to my personal experience, I have also interviewed a classmate who went to the beach this month. My friend/classmate Hamza, went to the beach with his friends and described how he enjoyed the warm sand as well as the huge and powerful waves. Jumping over the waves, which reminded him of times he went to the beach in Egypt. The beach brought back a lot of memories for him.

Far Rockaway Beach is an amazing place for teens to visit during the summer. The place is free to visit, it is not far from where I live and there are so many activities for us to play. I enjoyed playing games with my friends, going to the ocean to swim. One day you guys should go there too!
