Senior project: Bias in the media

Mark Berberena

This is a nine week elective course that would hypothetically be taken at the iSchool, open to students in all grades.

The primary goal of this course is to teach students how to conduct better research and how to have more open minds toward different issues they may initially have strong opinions on. Students will learn the significance of psychological biases, how they themselves exhibit psychological biases and how to overcome them, and how to teach others about these biases. They will also learn about what makes news sources reliable, and how to compile information to strengthen their writing and reflect upon what they have learned.
